Dental Bridges

A porcelain bridge is a non-removable dental appliance used to replace one or more missing teeth. Porcelain bridges have many benefits and can be used to:

  • Fill the gaps left by missing teeth
  • Prevent teeth from shifting
  • Restore function to your bite
  • Maintain the natural volume of your face
  • Promote a natural, beautiful smile

Receiving a porcelain bridge usually takes two visits to our Kailua, HI dental practice. At the first visit, your teeth are prepared for the bridge and a mold is taken to create your custom-fit bridge. At this time, you will be given a temporary bridge to wear until the next appointment. During the second appointment, you will receive your custom porcelain bridge.

Porcelain bridges are comprised of several elements: two abutment crowns and a pontic. The abutment crowns cover the teeth adjacent to the gap left by the missing tooth or teeth. Between the crowns, the artificial tooth- or pontic- is placed for optimal cosmetic and functional results. The pontic and crowns look and feel like natural teeth which means that when you smile, no one will ever know you were missing a tooth!
